guess what? last night i ran for 30 minutes non-stop on the treadmill. at first i was struggling for 25. then i thought, week eight of the running podcasts is 28 minutes, and then what's two more minutes on top of that? i felt like a machine. and one of the things that actually got me through it was knowing that i could write about it in this blog today!
that's pretty much all i have to say. friday is weigh in and this morning i was 120.2. not a loss but in my goal range which is fine by me. i did a little bit of pigging out last night at the euchre party.

only thursday
guess who forgot to bring her fish pills to work again? oh, me, that's who. for some reason the phrase "fish pills" really grosses me out. my roommate said, "why don't you just eat more fish?" well, there are several reasons: 1) bleh 2) pee-you 3) no. actually i do enjoy tuna fish sandwiches and a nice fillet on occasion but being a single eater (one who prepares food mostly for oneself) i don't feel the need to plan meals and include things like "meat" or "fish." it's too much pressure and i'll save that for when i have a family, thank you.
i did take a fish pill last night though. and i do have a spot of eczema on my elbow that likes to never go away and it's mostly gone already. not too shabby!
tonight i am going to the gym and then to a euchre party. nobody loves euchre more than me! here is today's menu:
breakfast:

apple (1)
4/19
lunch:
zucchini (0)
lean cuisine (4)
8/19
snack/dinner:

and then party foods at the euchre party i'm sure. happy thursday everyone.

something smells fishy
i forgot to mention that yesterday i bought "salmon and fish oil capsules" which contain the good stuff from fish, those omega-3's everyone is raving on about, and other essential fatty acids. i probably don't eat enough fat in my regular diet so i'm hoping these will help. i also hear that these pills will give you better skin, nails, and hair. by "better" i mean healthier haha.
i took one last night with dinner but forgot to bring any to work today. you are supposed to take one thrice daily with meals. that's a lotta fish.

whoopee it's wednesday
last week i read in someone's blog about how they have a "last chance workout" like the contestants on the biggest loser. now i can't get it out of my head and all my workouts are last chance workouts. and why not? if i'm at the gym already, why not push it as hard as i can. it's not like i go everyday, so i might as well make the most of it.
last night i did 40 minutes on the elliptical, did free weights and sit-ups, then got back on the treadmill and jogged/walked for 1/2 hour. last chance. at the end i was pooped but felt strong and accomplished.
my moving to-do's are getting done! last night i went through some more "junk" drawers and cleared out make-ups, lotions, and other beauty supplies that are too old/never gonna get used. i threw out 1/2 a big green garbage bag full of stuff... crazy. if thre is one thing i hate, it's unused junk and clutter and right now is the perfect time to purge myself of everything i don't want/need.
here is today's menu:
breakfast:
chocolate chip banana bran muffin (1)
clementine (0.5)

snack:

lunch:
lean cuisine (4)
zucchini (0) i didn't eat this yesterday

dinner: not sure, but my bf is coming over for dinner, top model watching, and general romance. ;)

moo it's monday
i ate a lot this weekend. A LOT. i went out for dinner friday and had bah me gai, a thai-style dish, and pizza later on. on saturday i had eggs and turkey bacon for breakfast, popcorn, those delicious candy nibs, chinese food, more popcorn, wine, and cheetos. yes, cheetos. on sunday morning i had leftover chinese food and pizza for breakfast. and a latte made from egg nog soymilk and espresso coffee. and chili for dinner too. yup. surprisingly i'm not up that much on the scale this morning... not even two pounds, so i'm not too worried. i eat very well during the week and i like to indulge on the weekend. work hard during the week, slack on the weekend.
on saturday afternoon i went to see 'we will rock you' the musical and it was alright. i wouldn't recommend it, but i wouldn't *not* recommend it either. if you are a musical connaisseur (like me) then you won't be that impressed. my mom gave my non-starting car a boost on saturday and luckily it started again yesterday and then this morning and i finally took it to canadian tire to have the new battery installed.
tonight is back to the gym. i am going to run on the treadmill and do weights. i should try the pool before my membership expires because they just switched it over to a saltwater pool. i got this online:
"Though the water in a saltwater pool is saline, it's actually nothing like swimming in the ocean. The salt concentration in the pool tops out at about 2800 to 4000 parts per million, compared to 50,000 parts per million in ocean water. Saltwater pools are less salty than tears (you usually can't even taste the salt) but the soft, luxurious feel of the water, not to mention freedom from the burning feeling of too much chlorine, is immediately noticeable."
OH BOY!

freezing friday
ok so it's freezing today. maybe that's why my car wouldn't start. on sunday it was having trouble starting, and i bought it to canadian tire because i knew it was the battery. they sold me a battery but "didn't have time to install it." GREAT. now i have a fresh battery in my living room, and a car on the street that won't start. i was going to bring it in this morning but not anymore.
the good news is last night at the gym i ran for 25 minutes on the treadmill without stopping, and including warmup/cool down walks was on for about 40 minutes. then i did some weight machines, sit-ups, free weights, and then got on the elliptical for another 20 minutes. i was sore afterwards, but it felt good.
i organized two of four giant tupperware bins. i found some ipod sticker/skins which i thought i had lost and funny pictures of my family. like my dad in the 70s in a speedo, haha. and my grandma in a leather jacket posing with brian mulroney. what in the world?
this should be a good weekend. tonight is pop with brains, an event that my boyfriend puts on at the rivoli on queen st.—there are five bands (his included) and five local artists (painters, jewelry designers, fashion designers, etc., and all the proceeds get donated to the centre for addiction and mental health. it's a really fun time (always!), and some of my friends and i always eat at the rivoli (menu)beforehand.
here is today's menu:

bran flakes (1)
yogurt (3)

thursday already?
yep thursday already. i didn't do my "moving to-do" last night. i was just in a daze. my bf is a teacher and they had some sort of party for the kids at lunch. one of the student's fathers owns a portuguese chicken restaurant and brought so much chicken and potatoes and french fries, etc. pretty good party except there was so much chicken leftover and now i have 30 chicken legs and breasts in my fridge. oh, it's a lot of chicken alright. luckily i love chicken and i'm happy to have it because chicken is not cheap. plus, already cooked... bonus. we made chicken poutine last night with the potato balls and chicken of course, and i made chicken sandwiches for lunch, and maybe i'll have to have chicken soup for dinner tonight. i hope i don't start laying eggs or something.
this is my to-do list for today:
1) go shopping after work and be home at a reasonable time.
2) hit the gym
3) go through the closet - should have done this yesterday
3.5) eat chicken
4) there are four large tupperware bins under the basement stairs and i am going through them.
5) set up electricity in new apartment
6) eat chicken
today's menu:
breakfast:
bran flakes and soy milk (small amount 1)
chocolate chip banana bran muffin (1)
chicken, no i'm not joking (0.5)
2.5/19
lunch:
lean cuisine (5)
steamed butternut squash - i didn't eat this yesterday (1)
8.5/19
snacks:
1 rye cracker (.5)
chicken sandwich, bread (2), chicken 2 oz. (2)
13/19
dinner:
chicken soup of course.
ps. i was trying to google chicken images and came across THIS. at your own risk of course.

all about me
mrs. furious tagged me with this mememememe so here we go.
I give you money and send you into the grocery store to pick up 5 items. You can only pick one thing from the following departments.. what is it?
1. Produce: cauliflower - the things i do with this veg. even amaze me!
2. Bakery: sprouted grains bread. or some kind of bread with seeds.
3. Meat: ground turkey
4. Frozen: edamame - i actually typed out edememe first, hahaha get it?
5. Dairy: mozza cheese (since i drink soymilk)
Let's say we're heading out for a weekend getaway. You're only allowed to bring 3 articles of clothing with you. So, what's in your bag?
1. skinny jeans. oh, i love skinny jeans.
2. these hideous purple slippers i wear everywhere. i pack them when i go to my parent's house, even for the day. cold feet! they are "native indian style" too. how do you say that without being offensive? moccasins!
3. let's say a t-shirt because i don't want my upper half to be nude.
If I was to listen in on your conversations throughout the day, what 5 phrases or words would I be most likely to hear?
1. no problem. (i say this a lot at work.)
2. my little grey poupon... (i say this to my cat.)
3. drink with a capital D.
4. cutiest/sweetiepie (what i call my boyfriend - i know, gag me but i'm not stopping!)
5. in other news...
So, what 3 things do you find yourself doing every single day, and if you didn't get to do, you probably wouldn't be in the best mood?
1. talking to or seeing my boyfriend.
2. talking to my mom
3. exercising (this is the key to my stress-free and very sane life.)
We're talking a 3 hour block with nobody around. What 5 activities might we find you doing?
1. reading.
2. dancing around the house with an ipod, doing chores/personal stuff like plucking eyebrows.
3. trolling facebook (*shame*)
4. drawing
5. watching my vhs tapes of shows i taped during the week.
We are going to the zoo. But, it looks like it could start storming, so it'll have to be a quick visit. What 3 exhibits do we have to get to?
1. monkeys!
2. jungle cats.
3. bambi deers - do they have deer at the zoo? at the african lion safari they do!
You just scored tickets to the taping of any show that comes on t.v. of your choice. You can pick between 4, so what are you deciding between?
(like mrs. f. this doesn't really interest me but... i guess these would be neat)
1. conan o brian.
2. jay leno.
3. saturday night live.
4. martha stewart or a live cooking show.
You're hungry for ice cream. I'll give you a triple dipper ice cream cone. What 3 flavors can I pile on for ya?
1. peanut butter chocolate.
2. piece of cake - the baskin robbins by my house had this for one summer only and never again - jerks!
3. i guess cookie dough... although i am only interested in the dough.
Somebody stole your purse/wallet…in order to get it back, you have to name 5 things you know are inside to claim it. So, what's in there?
1. canadian tire money.
2. mysterious "pills" in one of those film canisters with a snap lid. it's tylenol and vitamins, really!
3. my jewish community centre discount card - no i am not jewish but it's where i belong!
4. books - usually more than one.
5. coupons... so many coupons. they are gifts from my mother and i like them.
You are at a job fair, and asked what areas you are interested in pursuing a career in. Let's pretend you have every talent and ability to be whatever you wanted, so what 4 careers would be fun for you?
1. fashion model.
2. editor - oh wait, that is my career.
3. private investigator.
4. airline stewardess. fun times.
If you could go back and talk to the old you, when you were in high school, and inform yourself of 4 things, what would you say?
1. whatever your problems are right now, they won't matter in a) one month b) one year c) five years. i can't even remember my high school problems and when i can i just laugh about them.
2. all things worthwhile take hard work and determination - nothing falls into your lap.
3. tanning is not a good idea - especially for girls with pale skin.
4. cookies from tim hortons have a lot of calories. stop eating them.
and i'm going to tag: sara cuz she seems like a really nice person and also... wheebles because she isn't afraid to say what she's thinking, and one more for luck: shirls just because i like her.

on the hunt wednesday
have you ever shopped for clothes, bought stuff you thought you liked, and then brought it home and decided you hated everything? or that it's just boring? well that happened to me. i had these two $20 cards at smart set and i had to use them between nov. 4 and the 14th. i went a few times during this period, but didn't really see anything i was that into. but then of course i had to use the coupons, so there was pressure to buy new stuff. but now i really don't like my new stuff. in fact, one might say, i hate it! so i'm going to return it today. hopefully they will still let me return the stuff because i used the coupons. or that the salesgirl won't notice and just give me a refund anyway.
last night i got the stuff i wanted done. i love takin' care of business. and elvis too. the junk drawer was pretty easy. i threw out most tickets (except for the best concerts like depeche mode), all crap, photos that were stuck together, old notes, glittery stars (don't ask), a bag full of googly eyes (again, don't ask), old keys, etc. the underwear drawer was easier. it felt good to throw my old bras into the can. at first i thought, maybe my sister would want them (some aren't old, only worn a few times, but the wrong (sigh) size), but then thought, who would want anyone else's old underwear? no one, that's who! and if you do... you're sick. sick! yah, i said it.
tonight my bf is coming over for a home-date so my order of moving business is to have a go-through-the-closest fashion show and get rid of things i won't/can't wear anymore.
today's menu:
breakfast:
oatmeal (3)
3/19
snack:
veggies and dip (1)
chocolate chip banana bran muffin (1)
5/19
lunch:
steamed butternut squash (1)
lean cuisine (4)
10/19
dinner:
everyone's favourite, homemade poutine (?)

busy tuesday
my sickness yesterday took all my energy at work... and it feels like lately i have a lot of work business to take care of. only today do i finally have a moment to catch up on my blog reading. one of my favourite bloggers to read (don't stop believin') has cancelled her blog, i think, which is sad. so, mystery blog girl, if you are reading this, i say: come back!
last night i went to the gym (despite my sickness - yes i'm that hardcore) and it made me feel a LOT better. i just did 30 minutes on the elliptical and some light weights. i also washed and changed all the sheets on my bed, including the duvet cover and that white puffy sheet with the elastic that goes under the fitted sheet. i changed oliver's litterbox and took out all the trash (garbage day). i didn't bring up any boxes for packing because i realized this was not the best idea. i will just get them as i need them. so today, my to-do list after work is:
1) go through bedside table which is really two drawers of "junk." when i say junk, i mean junk! like old pedometers that came with mcdonald's salads when they first came out... they don't even work anymore! no keeping crap. i hate useless clutter.
2) go through underwear drawer and throw out a) all underwear that is old/gross/ashamed to be seen in during a hospital emergency, etc. b) all bras that do not fit and c) socks with holes or no matches d) old tights.
it's also my book club tonight and i want to hit the gym for some more light cardio. oh boy.
here is today's menu:
breakfast:
chocolate chip banana bran muffin (1)
1/2 banana (1)
2/19
snack:
oatmeal (3)
1/2 banana (1)
6/19
lunch:
tortilla wrap (4)
cheddar cheese (2)
spinach (0)
red and green peppers (0)

dinner: not sure, as per usual.

sicko
it's monday and i'm really sick today. but since i took friday off, i couldn't stay home today... well, i could have, but a four-day weekend, come on. i'm trying to suck it up and get on with my day. thankfully my office supplies kleenex brand facial tissues. :o)
my exciting surprise date on friday was a trip to...
MEDIEVAL TIMES dinner theatre and jousting tournament. i had never been and always wanted to go. it was a pretty good time, i must say!
i am moving in less than three weeks, and i haven't done any packing yet. i think from today until moving day, i should make a little "to-do" list everyday - so i'm not overwhelmed when the big day comes.
today:
1) pick up all the dirty clothes off bedroom floor - put them in laundry basket
2) wash and change sheets
3) bring up cardboard boxes from storage room (luckily i kept these from my last move!)
it may not seem like a lot, but i'm sick and i have plans with a friend after work. so it goes!
here is today's menu:
breakfast:
chocolate chip banana bran muffin (1)
oatmeal (2)
berries (0)
3/19
lunch:
tortilla wrap (4)
30g cheddar cheese (2)
spinach (0)
red and green peppers (0)
tomato, chopped (0)
9/19
snacks:
baby carrots and cauliflower (0)
ff sour cream dip (1)
clementine (0.5)
10.5/19
dinner: not too sure.

friday sick day
i am home sick today. i went to sleep last night around 10:30 (very early for me) and when i woke up at 7 i could tell i was not feeling better. so i just snoozed until noon and am feeling much MUCH better. still a bit woozy, but less lethargic i guess. sleep really is a great medicine.
i have to feel better, because my bf is taking me somewhere mysterious tonight. all i know is that it's expensive, and that i can't have any clues because i'd guess it right away. i wonder what it could be!? i'm very intrigued anyway.
my new haircut looks great. AND here is another random story: in the aveda school salon i was sitting on the couch, waiting for my hairdresser/student and i see these two men looking at me and whispering. they obviously worked there, and i recognized one as being an educator (from the last time i was there), so i figured that he was just telling a student that i was the next client or something. then the educator asks me to sit down and says, "what is your schedule like on this day (i forget when) in the future?" it was at least two weeks away and i thought they wanted to reschedule my appointment for that time (not cool!). anyway, they wanted me (ME!!!) to be a aveda hair fashion model in a show and walk down a runway. hahaha! i couldn't, because it would be in a morning and i have a day job, but still... what a compliment! i might change my mind actually. i said no because the location was an hour away... it's just so bizarre. i would get a free cut and colour out of the deal too.
no menu today. i'm going to have a bath and walk to the library. two of my favourite things to do. :o)

thursday BLEH
today i feel like crap. i was up in the night with nightmares about big moths flying into my hair. what in the world? i think i'm sick. it's my throat or something. but i am still at work. why? because i am hardcore! actually because i am getting my hair cut right after work today at the aveda school salon and it's really close to my office. usually in the morning i don't mind getting out of bed at all, but today... i could have kept snoozing in a major major way.
last night i did day two of week seven of the running podcasts, which is 25 minutes nonstop running. next week is 28 minutes, and the week after is 30, which i don't think should be a problem. what's five more measley little minutes? while i was running i hit a stoplight, and because i don't want to stop and lose momentum, i find a concrete step and go up and down, up and down. well, i was doing that and this asian man starts giving me the thumbs up and says, "good - active! - slim physique!" while i usually like to be recognized for the effort i'm making to keep a slim physique, not on a busy street corner! everyone else was cracking up. i was too actually, haha. he asked if i was going to run 10 miles... hahaha ya buddy, 10 miles.
anyhoo, the scale showed me up today but i didn't eat dinner until 9pm last night, and i had leftover chicken panang, which is basically peanuts ground up into a delicious coconut milk peanut sauce of wonder. not points friendly i'm sure.
here is today's menu:
breakfast:
chocolate chip banana bran muffin (1)
1/2 banana (1)
2/19
snack:
oatmeal (2.5)
1/2 banana (1)
20g raisins (1)
6.5
lunch:
mac and cheese (3)
2 slices bread (4)
13.5
dinner:
leftover curry cauliflower soup (?)

tgiw
i'm happy it's wednesday because the week is almost half over. yesterday one of my friends sent me this little gem about tuesday. oh, it's funny because it's true, like so maybe things.
i need to admit that i have an addiction to american apparel. i love simple clothes that fit well, are made of cotton and spandex, and don't have any slogans or writing on them. it's genious! true, some of the clothes may seem expensive, but they are all made in a sweatshop-free-factory in downtown LA and that's pretty cool. i love the leggings and the dresses. i also have a bathing suit from aa. groovy!
this morning i woke up early and made chocolate chip banana bran muffins. only, i like to add a bit of vanilla, and today i decided to use 1/2 semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1/2 white chocolate chips. oh boy! i had one for breakfast (who can resist warm, fresh-baked goods! no one, that's who!) and it was very tasty and the two-colour chips looked very appealing.
yesterday in the grocery store i FINALLY found no-sugar-added pudding cups. i avoided pudding cups in the past because a) i could really take it or leave it—pudding is good but not that special and b) the ones with sugar are sugar laden and 2 points a.k.a not worth it. but the no-sugar added ones are only 1 point and have 0g of sugar. i don't really "get" how they taste so delicious. i got vanilla even though i spent a few minutes debating between that and butterscotch. i couldn't find them before because they are not kept with the regular pudding cups, they are kept with the dairy in the cold section. what in the world?
this week has been good and on plan so far. i am still trying to eat only when hungry and it's going pretty well. i went to the gym last night before meeting up with a friend for some drinks/gossip. who wants one?
here is today's menu:
chocolate chip banana bran muffin (1)
oatmeal with pumpkin (3)
chefboyardee ravoli microwave cup (4)
salad with dressing (1)
semi-total (9)
i have some leftover panang thai so perhaps for dinner i'll steam some rice and dump it on. the word "dump" definitely makes it sound less appetizing but trust me, it's good.

tuesday
i love exercise. i love everything about it. i love cardio. i love lifting weights. i love running when my knees don't hurt (they are starting not to!). i love sweating. i love feeling "the burn." i love endorphins. i love stretching. i love feeling strong. my point is: exercise is the BEST. ya, it's hard at first, but when you get into the swing of it, and make it a priority, you'll love it too. what's not to love. people who exercise are happier, more calm, have more regular eating habits and sleeping patterns, are probably less prone to physical injury, have better endurance... the list goes on and on.
last night i went to the gym and did 30 minutes on the ellptical and then weights. i wanted to jump on the treadmill and do a running podcast since i still hadn't gotten all my energy out, but they were all occupied. at least five of them were being repaired. boo-urns. at first i started waiting for one, but then i felt ants in my pants and figured, i'll just go outside, i like it way better anyway. it was great - 25 minutes no stopping. i mapped the run and including warm up and cool down walks it was 2.91 miles. not bad!
today's menu:
breakfast:
oatmeal (3)
3/19
lunch:
salad with dressing (1)
tomato (0)
cheese (2)
bread (4)
10/19
snacks:
rye crackers (1)
pudding cup (1)
12/19
dinner: not sure, but probabaly veggie heavy with chicken or a hamburger. or soup. i don't know.

mourning monday
not really "mourning" anything except the weekend. i bought my cat oliver a "luxury cat scratching post and stand" thing and he broke off the fluffy ball on the elastic string in less than an hour. GREAT. he's very naughty but cute so he gets away with everything.
the chocolate peppermint soymilk i posted in friday's entry is out of this world. it's not that low in calories, but still, unbelievably tasty. i made lattes with it on sunday morning. it was christmas bliss.
on saturday i finished week six of the running podcasts, which is 25 minutes running, without stopping. i couldn't believe that i could do it. i was trying to boost myself up by telling myself i could do it, but was still having doubts. if you think you can't do something you probably won't be able to. week seven is three sessions of running 25 minutes. week eight is three sessions of 28 minutes, and the final week is three sessions of 30 minutes. then i will run around the world.
on that note, here is the menu for this rainy monday.
breakfast:
chocolate chip banana bran muffin (1)
oatmeal with berries (2)
3/19
lunch:
obscene amount of fresh greens (0)
fat free caesar dressing (1)
lean cuisine (5)
9/19
snack:
slice of mulitgrain bread (2)
11/19
dinner: it's a mystery!

fabulous friday
between last night and this morning i really tcb. (takin' care of business.) after work i couldn't go home because my landlord was showing the apartment (again!) so i went to the mall to try on my new coat in a size smaller. the smallest size was really too small so i'm happy with the one i have. i also got new winter boots. they are great. they come almost to the knee and have a small heel, so they are comfortable and stylish. and they zip up over my skinny jeans and make me look like a somebody. my winter outerwear wardrobe is complete!
after the mall i returned some library books and hit up the gym, where i used the elliptical, did weights, and did day two week six of the running podcasts. hardcore! then i went home, started taping grey's anatomy, put some brussel sprouts in the oven, and walked to shoppers drug mart to buy some hair dye. then i came home, ate dinner (with leftover shepherd's pie) while watching the biggest loser i had taped previously, did two loads of laundry, sprayed my leather (fall) coat with protective spray, and crashed. then this morning i did another load of laundry and dyed my hair. (my hair is medium brown and i dye it dark brown.)
guess what i found in dominion yesterday...
this:
and this:
Hungry Girl is always talking about them. you can find nutritional info here. i love making lattes at home with soymilk because it gives them a nutty flavour - i can't wait to try it with these.

1 T slivered almonds (1)

thursday, good day
last night for dinner i had shepherd's pie (pc blue menu) and then tortilla rounds with melted tostitos cheese dip, so don't worry, i obviously ate all my points. today i could have brought some leftover pie to work for lunch, but decided that i wanted it for dinner instead. oh boy, how exciting. i didn't wear my new jacket, even though it is freezing outside. i'm just not sure i got the right size, so i'm going to go back and try on all the options before i cut the tags off. i always do this!
random: i get the weirdest spam in my email inbox at work. example subject headings include, "Don't be afraid to take off your pants in her bedroom," "You will work wonders in bed with your new long and stiff magic love stick," and my personal favourite, "The most defiant fillies will strive for riding your new big Italian stallion." defiant fillies? somebody is obviously thinking hard to come up with this stuff... it's better than j. peterman's catalogue.
today is going to be an active annie day. 1) i am going to complete day 2 week 6 of the couch to 5k program, either at lunch or after work at the 2) gym, where i will pump it up big time. i am not allowed to go home until 7pm anyway, because my landlord is showing the apartment to prospective tenants.

trying something new update
1) i got a new coat at lunch, but no boots. it's this coat but cream coloured.
the collar is really nice. it goes up high - halfway up my face. so no need for a scarf and i can also look shifty and incognito like a p.i.
2) i am not hungry. seriously. i ate a chocolate chip banana bran muffin (1) for breakfast and around 12:30 ate oatmeal with a bit of milk and 1/2 cup berries. (3) that is 4 points total people! but i'm just not hungry. i'm drinking tea right now and it's lovely. the thought of eating makes me want to, but after thinking about it... i'm just not hungry. ok now i had 2 pieces of toast - add on 2 more points. but still 6 points is not that much.
will wonders never cease!?
the collar is really nice. it goes up high - halfway up my face. so no need for a scarf and i can also look shifty and incognito like a p.i.
2) i am not hungry. seriously. i ate a chocolate chip banana bran muffin (1) for breakfast and around 12:30 ate oatmeal with a bit of milk and 1/2 cup berries. trying something new
last night for dinner i had a chicken tikka masala boxty. yum yum. it was an irish potato pancake wrapped around some sort of chicken tikka mush. medium spicy but not spicy enough! it came with a salad. oh yummy.
the party was also fun. a lot of my friends came and we laughed it up. also i won a door prize. a "denver hayes" leather jacket from mark's work warehouse. oh boy. men's size large haha. i wore it home because it was freezing. but i am hoping that it can be exchanged or something.
today i'm going shopping at lunch because i don't have a winter coat. i didn't get one last year because i couldn't find one i liked. i was wearing this duffel coat i had—from high school! then, one night at a bar, it was stolen from me (my keys were in the pocket too.) left in its place was a cheap, gross, but similar mariposa coat. not the same! so my point is i don't have a coat - not even one, and i'm freezing. i also need winter boots. and i hate shopping. i have shoppers rage.
so i'm trying something new food wise today, at work. i brought a bunch of stuff to eat. pretty much what i normally would eat. but instead of having this for breakfast and that for lunch and this for a snack at this exact time, im going to eat whatever i want when i'm hungry. and if i'm not hungry, i'm not going to eat it.
here is what i brought:
chocolate chip banana bran muffin (1)
oatmeal (2-3)
mixed berries (1)
chili (3)
2 slices body wise bread (2)
10/19
i also have a banana (2)
yogurt (1)
so far i've eaten the muffin. i'm just not feeling that hungry today, although i'll have to eat something before shopping. enraged shoppers should never go shopping hungry. it is a bad combo.

tuesday
this morning i completed day one of week six of the couch to 5k running podcasts. it's 5 min warm up walk, 5 min run, 3 min walk, 8 min run, 3 min walk, 5 min run, and 5 min cool down walk. easier than running 20 minutes non-stop but i guess the point is to get used to the activity getting longer and longer.
for breakfast i made an oatmeal pumpkin pancake. it was pretty good but didn't hold together as a pancake.
i used:
1/2 cup oats (2.5 points)
1/2 cup pumpkin (0 points)
3/4 t vanilla
1/4 t baking powder
2 t splenda brown sugar
2 T egg whites (0.5 points i think)
yum yum. in this case i liked the pumpkin. i am going to the giller light awards tonight and out for dinner first so i am trying to eat low point for breakfast and lunch. sort of.
today's menu:
breakfast:
oatmeal pancake (3)
3/19
lunch:
chili (3)
6/19
and after lunch:
2 slices sprouted grains toast (2)
8/19
i also brought a yogurt and banana if i am ravenous.

so popular, yes it's true
i was tagged by the awesome blogtress (yes i just made up that word) Randi for this blogging tag thingamabob so here is mine:
The Rules:
1-Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.
2-Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3-Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4- Let them know they are TAGGED by leaving a comment on their blog.
here are my random, weird, hopefully interesting facts:
1. i edit children's books for a living.
2. i was a bit of a child-artist prodigy. I used to paint with watercolour and oil paint and ink and everything, but stopped when I was about 14. maybe I was just sick of it?
3. i am a huge nerd at heart and LOVE reading. every year growing up my local library would have contests to see who could read the most books over the summer and I always won by a long shot.
4. i am moving out on my own for the first time ever (no roomies) in five short weeks. alone, except for my cat, oliver.
5. i love pickles and have been known to eat an entire jar of delicious garlic flavour pickles in one sitting. a mini jar i guess, but still a jar!
6. i hardly ever watch tv shows during their regularly scheduled time. even if i'm home, i like to tape them and save them for moments when i can really just chill out and relax (and watch things i'm looking forward to.) and i get to fastforward through commercials.
7. i hope this doesn't sound too strange but i have found the secret to happy, stress-free living and here it is: being happy with who you are and what you have right now, and without jealousy or resentment, wishing true happiness for those around you. karma baby!
i will tag, for those who may be interested:

interesting fact
i read in my chatelaine this month that less than 24% of Canadian women over the age of 12 are active.
can you believe it!???
can you believe it!???
guess what?
or at least i think i did. what is it? day 3 of week 5 of the couch to 5k running program a.k.a. running for 20 minutes without stopping. my ipod cut out (even after charging to full battery yesterday) after about 17 minutes of running so i had to guess the last three. maybe i over-estimated ha! i just took it slow and steady and it was allllllllllllright! by the end i thought my knees might snap but i still made it. hopefully that will get better after time.
friday=weigh-in. last week 122.8 and this week 122.4. great!
this weekend is going to be fun. tonight i'm going RELAX and watch "knocked up," and tomorrow i am going to the university of toronto, mississauga campus, to see my sister in a production of david copperfield. she has a leading role and i can't wait! and then later it's back to the city for an engagement party.

breakfast:

chef boyardee lasagna (4)
