things to do in niagara falls

last night was my valentine's date at the chalet swiss. i had a garden salad with fat free raspberry vinaigrette dressing, a messy chicken sandwich with mashed potatoes, and we split a 1/2 litre of wine. this meal was a lot of weight watchers points but only about 600 calories (not including the wine) which isn't that bad.

sometimes these weight watchers points annoy me. let's say that i was in weight loss mode. i would be eating 19 points per day. not a lot. and if you calculate calories, that could be as low as 950 calories, which puts your body into starvation mode. obviously at 19 points a day you have to find creative ways to eat more food, like 0 point fruits and veggies, and up the fibre... but still. on the other hand...

i see people eating 2,000 calories a day and still losing weight. i think that if i ate 2,000 calories a day, i would gain weight. i know it's true, actually. i mean 2,000 with no exercise at all. i know everyone has different metabolisms but i just don't understand it really. maybe it's best to avoid thinking about it at all.

and as promised, here are some pics from last year's romantic valentine's getaway to niagara falls. there is a lot to do there. including, going through the most terrifying haunted house of all time:

yes, this is my real face and i didn't know they were taking a picture at this time. it was pitch black... i couldn't see those ridiculous gravestones on the wall.

or, you could go to the old tyme saloon:

pretty funny. i think anyway. i just found out that we are going out for lunch today at work... i am still stuffed from breakfast.

here is today's menu:

breakfast:
1/2 cup oats
1/4 cup pumpkin
mixed seeds

lunch:
enchiladas

dinner:
leftover enchiladas i assume

you are gorgeous :-)

Happy Valentine's Day!

also if I eat more than 1400 calories a day I gain. Wtf is that? And that is with working out for an hour to 1.5 hours 5 days a week. LAME! heh. The people that can do it with 2000 calories make me envious. haha :-)

Love the pictures!!

And I totally agree with your complaints to weight watchers. That is the whole reason my trial run with WW was only a few days. I found that I was getting really high points, although I was only eating about 1400 calories a day (which is low for my metabolism). Just didn't suit my lifestyle!

0 point foods do not equal 0 calories, therefore no one should be "starving".

plus, you should be eating your flex and activity points too.

might want to check the calorie count again.

thanks for your nice comments everyone!

and personally i'm not "starving," and i'm not in weight loss mode either. i do eat more when i work out, thanks for the tips. :)

LOVE the pics.

I have a similarly cheesy one from a haunted house in London with my ex. It was a little more posed, but a hilarious souvenir nonetheless.

It's tough to do the calories vs points thing unless you are really good at figuring out the calories in zero points items. It's not accurate at all to say that one point = 50 calories. Chances are you are consuming a lot more calories than you think.

I hate counting cals...it's waaaaay too much work.

Looks like you had a blast last year - I hope this year is more of the same!!

1 point = 50 cals is true. Most veggies are 10-25 cals and as long as we eat our 5 to 10 then we should be good!

I love the pictures! Your face is too funny in the haunted house picture. I scream the whole time when I'm in a haunted house, so I can totally relate!
