for once

i am nervous and excited for tomorrow's weigh in. i am feeling really good and looking pretty good, but like many the numbers on the scale can have an influence on my mood. sort of. actually if i am back in my maintenance range i'll be happy. i know last friday i was only 0.4 over it, but saturday i was more than a pound over and sunday more than 2 pounds over. i don't even want to think about monday after sundays gorge-fest. i am pretty good about shrugging off bad numbers actually, i just want to see results for the work i put in this week.

last night for dinner we had fast fry steaks, salad, and whole wheat rotini mmmmm. delicious. and a post dinner snack of smartpop mixed with ketchup chips. i managed to eat mostly popcorn which was a victory for me because i loooovvvveee ketchup chips.

this morning i woke up and had a great run on the treadmill. except for that my headphones stopped working in one ear a couple of days ago. yesterday i went headphone shopping but couldn't believe how expensive they were, so i am going to try ebay. i decided to try running with no music, and let me tell you it was a very pleasant experience. i felt really in tune with my body and running, and my thoughts were very clear. until the big guy with b.o. got on the treadmill beside me and i could hear his music through his headphones. so i did some running and stretching, sit-ups and pushups, and i think i will go back tonight for some strength training before tap class. i really love getting cardio out of the way in the mornings. it sets me on a happy track all day long.

here is today's menu:

pre-run
1/2 slice sprouted grains bread

post-run
other half of bread slice

breakfast
banana bread oatmeal with added flax and splash of unsweetened almond joy
blueberries and strawberries
coffee

lunch
low fat coffee yogurt
weight control maple brown sugar oatmeal
clementines

snack
clementine
cookies and creme oatmeal

dinner
maybe oatmeal pancakes and peas. for some reason i am craving these pancakes again. :)

I hate when smelly people run next to me, entirely ruins the workout!!

Good luck with the headphones. I have a pair that requires electrical tape (yes ghetto) but I am unwilling to replace them until they die because the headphones are so ridiculously expensive for what they are.

Ok, maybe it's me being naive because I don't really sweat that much and when I do it doesn't really stink, and BF also doesn't really stink when he's sweaty.

But, from what I understand, simply the time spent in that one hour or so that you start sweating - that part just makes you sweat. From what I understand it only gets 'stinky', like gross b.o. stinky after a couple hours. Which means, I believe that these gross people are actually showing up to the gym in gross used clothing and nasty bodies.

Just because you are going to work out doesn't mean you shouldn't exercise some kind of hygiene routine!!!

jenn: i REALLY love oatmeal. maybe especially right now because it's so freezing outside.

cara: they are still pretty expensive on ebay when i include shipping! why do they cost so much!? seriously!

sarah: i don't think you are naive. i do A LOT of sweating at the gym. after i run it's dripping off my face, but i'm pretty sure i don't smell like b.o. i think you are right about people with b.o. having poor hygiene and pre-smelling before they even hit the gym... sick!

haley: i posted a comment on your last blog about ketchup chips. i can't believe that all countries don't have ketchup chips. they are soooo good. and it's not a new flavour, like curry or wasabi either. actually i lived in england for 1/2 year and they had "roast chicken" flavour chips... yum yum haha.

I love music for 30-45 min runs b/c it pumps me up to go fast. For my long runs I really like to tune into my body and "feel" the run with no distractions. Weird I know. But it does get lonely when runs are 2.5-3 hrs long!

stinky ppl are gross. It really ruins the workout mood. If i'm in a groove, and i start to smell some stink, it kills it and i have to move on.
Plus, i'm ALWAYS stuffy... so if *I* can smell someone it's got to be bad, because my sense of smell is terrible.

Oh crap. I am NOT envious about headphone hunting. I have the worst time with that. The only ones that stay in my ears are the nike sport ones at the mac store. They used to be $25 a pair. But I burn thru them like every 3 months. Well,they just jacked up the price to $50. I am so pissed. If you find anything good - let us know.
